Smoky Fluorite Cluster on Feldspar Matrix from Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
This small Fluorite cluster has bands of purple, green, and brown which give it it’s smoky title. The colours are visible in daylight and pop when backlit. The Feldspar Matrix is speckled with small amounts of Mica.

The cause of the beautiful green colour is unknown, it may be related to associated radioactive or rare-earth species, samples where tested and yielded surprising results; isotopes in the rare-earth element lanthanide series; lanthanum, ytterbium, cerium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium and holmium were detected although amounts were not determined.
