You will receive five natural Phenakite (sometimes spelled phenacite) Crystals from the Okuta-Didan Mine (Shining Stone) Mine, Jos Plateau, Nigeria.
The pieces will be selected intuitively for you from the ones in the photos and will be sent in a 1.25” x 1.25” thumbnail display box.
Specimens range in size but average approximately 1 cm / 0.4 inches in height. Each group weighs between 2 and 4 grams.

Okuta-Didan Mine is the major producer of Nigerian Phenakite.
Natural Phenakite is difficult to discern from other minerals so we had the crystals tested using a refractometer to verify their authenticity. The Phenakite Gem can be cut and polished and is very attractive.
Phenakite is a silicate with a hexagonal crystal structure. Named after ‘Phenax’, a Greek word meaning deceiver, because of a strong similarity to quartz. Natural Phenakite is harder than quartz at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale and when cut displays a brilliance that is just short of diamond.
Sometimes this stone is referred to as Phenacite, especially in the Metaphysical world where it is part of the Synergy 12.
