"The Abstract Thinker" Shona Sculpture by Masimba Dimbwi, Signed, in Butter Jade, from the Budiriro Art Center, Zimbabwe


This gorgeous Butter Jade “Abstract Thinker” is both expressive, and serene: it is a representation of a traditional Figure from Mbare, Zimbabwe. The smooth lines of the sculpture are accentuated by natural Jade formations and colouring, with shades of brown, dark green, black, beige and white present in the sculpture. 

Marimba Dimbwi is a prolific sculptor originally from the Wedza communal area of Zimbabwe. He is a member of the Budiriro Art Centre of Zimbabwe. This i a signed piece by this amazing sculptor.

Butter Jade, also known as African Jade, is an ancient stone found in Southern Africa. Most of it is around 50 million years old! It is a creamy, yellow/green semi-precious stone which often exhibits calming, stabilizing, grounding effects. This piece of history is an example of a beautiful healing stone.
