"Goddess of Light" Shona Sculpture in Yellow Serpentine, from the Chitungwiza Art Centre, Zimbabwe
This Shona Sculpture “Goddess of Light” is a piece from the Chitungwiza Art Centre in Zimbabwe. The unsigned piece is by an unknown artist, but it doesn’t detract from it’s gorgeous, tranquil look.
The lively Shona Sculpture was crafted from Yellow Serpentine, and is mostly a bright green/yellow tint with occasional darker ridges that are a naturally occurring formation in the Yellow Serpentine stone. Details are etched into the deep stone, creating darker lines and shadows.
Yellow Serpentine is a soft stone found throughout Africa.
