Fluorite Octahedron, Riemvasmaak, Northern Cape, South Africa
We were very lucky during our March 2017 trip to South Africa to purchase a large collection of Orange River Fluorites Octahedrons from Riemvasmaak in the Northern Cape, South Africa.
These cubes will fluoresce blue under long wave UV.
These Octahedrons have been cleaved (cut) in South Africa from larger pieces of fluorite. Natural Octahedrons
The cause of the beautiful green colour is unknown, it may be related to associated radioactive or rare-earth species, samples where tested and yielded surprising results; isotopes in the rare-earth element lanthanide series; lanthanum, ytterbium, cerium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium and holmium were detected although amounts were not determined.? We have been collecting mineral specimens in Southern Africa since 2002. We focus on bringing a wide variety of unusual, beautiful and energetic minerals! These Octahedrons have been cleaved (cut) in South Africa from larger pieces of fluorite. Natural Octahedrons.
