This Shona Sculpture is an elephant carved in Butter Jade. These highly detailed pieces are beautiful, standing, and highly ornamental sculptures from the Chitungwiza Art Centre in Zimbabwe.
We have multiple pieces available. You may not necessarily get the one in the photo but your piece will be the same stone and the same style, carefully selected for uniform, superb quality.
Several unique pieces are available. Be advised when purchasing that small variations in size and colour may be apparent.
NOTE: Tusks are removed for safe shipping. We recommend using superglue to permanently affix tusks once they arrive.

Butter Jade can be found in South Africa and Zimbabwe, as stone with a hardness of 6 Mohs, it is perfect for carving.
The Chitungwiza Art Centre is Zimbabwe’s largest arts cooperative, with numerous prolific sculptors and artists that Nharo visits often.
